In the second month, sales slowed down a lot.
Kitfox Games, publisher of the hardcore RPG Dwarf Fortress, has summed up its second month of sales. From December 6, 2022 to February 6, 2023, over 606,000 copies of the game have been sold.
In the second month, Dwarf Fortress sales slowed down a lot. In the first month, almost 500,000 copies were sold on Steam, in the second, a little over 100,000 copies were sold.
And here’s another story
However, the revenue of the game is still much higher than expected. Initially, the head of Kitfox Games, Tanya Short, estimated that in two months it would be sold in the region of 200,000 copies.
Most of the copies of the game are sold on Steam, on the itch.io site, where Dwarf Fortress is also sold, only about 5 thousand copies have been sold.
Thanks to a report from the developers themselves, we know that Dwarf Fortress brought in about $7.23 million in its first month of sales. Apparently, the second month will give the creators of the game about $1.5 million.
