The message says that after the work on the service was stopped, the majority of the team left the project, including the executive director Kirill Artemiev. The rest of the developers were transferred to other divisions of the holding. It is noted that the decision to stop work on the streaming platform was announced to employees at the end of 2022.
Recall that the launch of the Audioclub platform was announced in April last year, shortly after the departure of the Spotify service from the Russian market. According to the source, in the summer the Audioclub signed an agreement with one of the largest distributors of digital content, but in the end, the management of Gazprom Media Holding did not agree on a budget for the further development of the project. One of the features of the platform was to be the availability of audio books and recordings of radio programs. Between April and August last year, the platform was tested behind closed doors, and the app received its last update in November. For a short period of existence, the Android version of the application was downloaded 100 thousand times. It is noted that at the moment the previously downloaded application “Audioclub” continues to work.
Gazprom-Media Holding reported that due to the withdrawal of Western companies from Russia, it was decided to stop the project in the form of a separate music service. At the same time, it is noted that the company will continue to develop the distribution of audio content and intends to implement such an opportunity in the Rutube and Yappy video services.
