Sony’s second VR headset, Playstation VR 2, will be launched on February 22nd. Accordingly, many people are currently asking numerous questions about VR glasses. The company has now attempted to fully answer this question in a long, detailed blog post. Not only the price, the launch line-up or the functions are discussed, but also, for example, cleaning the glasses, child safety, accessibility or the user interface. Thus, all important questions before buying a VR headset from Sony should have been answered.
The most important information at a glance
PSVR 2 currently costs €599.99 and comes with the headset itself, two Sense controllers, stereo headphones and a USB cable. A package with Horizon: Call of the Mountain is offered for 649.99 euros. We have already reported on the upcoming VR offshoot from the Horizon franchise.
According to Sony, the headset, which comes around the corner with a resolution of 2,000 x 2,040 pixels per eye, is not compatible with the Playstation 4. In addition to the improved resolution, new controllers or the lower weight compared to the predecessor, the pass-through view is also worth mentioning. This should give the players the opportunity to find their way around in their own household without removing their VR glasses. In addition to the VR mode, there is also a cinema mode, just like the first headset.
Numerous new titles such as Horizon: Call of the Mountain are available for the launch of the console. In addition, already published PS5 titles such as Gran Turismo 7 or Resident Evil: Village can also be used with PSVR 2 after a free update. You can already find a first impression of the VR glasses from Sony on our website.
According to the blog post, for example, people who wear glasses can also enjoy the headset. In terms of accessibility, Sony names the previous features of the PS5 in terms of color correction, color inversion and button assignment. According to the post in this context, the use of both controllers is recommended for most games.
