With the exception of ghosts, there are no characters from the Harry Potter films and books in Hogwarts Legacy – the events of the game and the Potteries are separated by a hundred years. But in the game there are ancestors and relatives of some characters.

Even before the release, it was revealed that the deputy director of Hogwarts would be a representative of the Weasley family, and one of the antagonists could be the ancestor of Augustus Rookwood, a Death Eater and one of Voldemort’s supporters. It looks like there is another interesting relative in the game.

Journalists from the Polish edition of GRY Online stumbled upon a blind Hogwarts student named Ominis Gaunt or Mraks, as this surname was translated in Russian versions of Harry Potter. Gaunts are purebred wizards who at various times intermarried with the Riddle and Potter families.

According to the fan wiki, Ominis Gaunt lived around the same time as Marvolo Gaunt, the grandfather of Tom Riddle, the future Lord Voldemort. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly who Ominis is related to Voldemort.

It is assumed that Ominis was born in the second half of 1875 (he is a fifth-year student at Hogwarts, and the time when the events of the game unfold is known), that is, he cannot be the son of Marvolo Gaunt: Voldemort’s grandfather was born in 1872. Ominis and Marvolo are probably siblings or cousins.

In the dialogues, Ominis mentions that his father is a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin, who is very sensitive to the issue of blood purity. Ominis himself is ashamed of his father, but still studies at the Slytherin faculty; He doesn’t say anything about his mother.

Ominis Gloom is involved in one of the tasks of Hogwarts Legacy, but this mission has nothing to do with his distant relative.
