02/07/2023 at 09:06 by Thilo Bayer – Complete U-turn on the topic of Steam preload of Hogwarts Legacy on Steam. As publisher Warner confirms, there is the option of pre-downloading the game data for both release phases. The download size is now also known and the pre-release version of PCGH has received a patch.
Yesterday it was officially said that there was no preload for the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy – at least there were “no plans”. After the significantly later start time, that would be the second disadvantage for PC players. But publisher Warner has made a U-turn.
Preload and download size
As now on Twitter can be read, you obviously changed your mind at the last minute. In the early hours of the morning, it was confirmed that there was a preload, at least on Steam. This applies to both early access, if you have bought the deluxe version, as well as to the global release. As a reminder, the PC launch on Steam and Epic is for 7.2. 7 p.m. and 10.2. set at 7 p.m. Warner is silent on the subject of Epic, so we assume the good news is for Steam users only. In the past there have been differences between the PC platforms quite a few times. On Twitter, some users report that despite deluxe pre-orders, they will continue to use the 10.2. see as release date. It remains to be seen whether there will be a problem here.

Again CapFrameX Twitter account verified, the preload for the global release on Friday is already available. The download size is 73 GB, which confirms our forecast that the download will be similar in size to the final space requirement on the data carrier. This is 85 GB according to the official system requirements for Hogwarts Legacy (buy now). For one For a first impression of Hogwarts Legacy technology, we recommend our PCGH technology article. According to the findings of colleagues, 32 GiB of RAM and 16 GiB of graphics memory are not wrong.
First patch in advance
The pre-release version made available to PCGH received a one-gigabyte patch last night. There is no real changelog, but we were assured that there should be a patch before the early access release that addresses problems with ray tracing, among other things. That’s probably why the preload was released this morning: Hogwarts Legacy now seems to be ready for the first PC players. When and if Nvidia and AMD will release suitable graphics card drivers is not yet known. Hogwarts Legacy supports DLSS3, the game was not explicitly mentioned in Nvidia’s last game-ready driver.
