Microsoft is using artificial intelligence for a new way of browsing the web, and Bing chat, like ChatGPT, will provide users with realistic answers to any question.
“It’s a new day in search,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said during the product announcement.
He added that the web search paradigm has not changed for decades and it is artificial intelligence that will be able to take it to a new level, providing information much faster.
“The race starts today. And we will move, move very quickly,” Nadella said.
During today’s demonstration, the company presented the “new Bing” – a search engine that works in different configurations: one mode shows traditional search results next to artificial intelligence annotationsthe other allows users to Chat directly with Bing Chat by asking it questions in the normal chat interface.
Microsoft shared examples of search queries and results: recipe searches, travel tips, buying furniture from Ikea. In one demo, Bing was asked to “create an itinerary for a 5-day trip to Mexico.” The chatbot itself described an approximate route, referring to sources so that users could get additional information or check the available information.

The AI features are based on an updated version of GPT 3.5, the language model that powered OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Microsoft called this version the “Prometheus model”, claiming that it is significantly more powerful than GPT 3.5: it responds better to search queries, provides more up-to-date information and answers with links.
The new Bing should be up and running today – users can enter a limited number of requests, as well as register for full access in the future.

Two new AI features will be added to the Edge browser – they will be embedded in the sidebar of the browser:
The “chat” feature will allow users to summarize the content of a page or documents and ask a question about their content. The “writing” feature will help you generate any text, from emails to social media posts, based on a few basic cues.
Microsoft, in the wake of the rapid popularity of ChatGPT, has developed a storm of activity: it has invested $ 10 billion in the company that created the OpenAI chat bot, and ChatGPT itself plans to integrate not only with the search engine and browser, but also with its own office software offerings.

Google, in turn, announced an alarm in its divisions, even the founders and shareholders of the tech giant Larry Page and Sergey Brin became more active. On Monday, the company introduced its own ChatGPT alternative called Bard. Google CEO Sundar Pichai called the software an “experimental artificial intelligence service” that is still being tested by a limited number of users and employees of the company, and will be launched to the general public “in the coming weeks.”
