Fans of the Resident Evil series drew attention to some of the work of the artist under the nickname Sergey Ka, who worked with Capcom on horror for several years in a row. Early concept art of Resident Evil 7 with Leon in third person was found in his portfolio.
Initially, Resident Evil 7 was reportedly an advanced version of Resident Evil 6 with Leon and Sheri as the main playable characters, which are sent to Europe. According to the plot of the game, the heroes were supposed to be in a city inspired by Venice. Also, one main setting was to be the Baker Mansion, which in the early stages was very different from what players saw in the release version of Resident Evil 7.
According to insider Dusk Golem, an early version of Resident Evil 7 was playable. At the end of 2013, the developers released a demo build within the company, which could be completed in about one hour. Of the innovations in the game, they decided to include a selection system, as in games from Telltale Games.
