A quality design, but with an air of deja vu
The Arctis 7P+ headset looks exactly like its predecessor, the Arctis 7P. Here, SteelSeries has chosen not to change a winning formula in terms of aesthetics and ergonomics. The Arctis 7P+ consists of a double headband, one rigid in steel and aluminum and the other in elastic and adjustable fabric. The fabric ear cups are comfortable, but imperfect when it comes to noise isolation. Finally, the microphone is at the end of a retractable and flexible rod, perhaps a little too much since it tends to move on its own when handling the helmet.
The Arctis 7P+ comes with a 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle from which to connect. If this headset was designed primarily for the PS5, it is indeed compatible with other platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, the PC, your smartphone or the tablet, but not the Xbox. For the latter, it is better to turn to the Arctis 7X models.
Quality audio performance for gaming
First of all, the strong point of the Arctis 7P series headsets is their compatibility with the PS5’s Audio Tempest 3D technology which gives you a convincing immersive experience by amplifying the discreet sounds around you. In general, the Arctis 7P+ does the job without however excelling with a balanced audio reproduction which does not attack the eardrums but which lacks punch. The big weak point of this headset, in addition to the absence of Bluetooth, is the microphone, which is rather basic and does not manage to reproduce the voice naturally.
Audio qualities can be increased for PC users who can use SteelSeries software to access an equalizer and customize headset settings to their liking. The software is even strongly recommended depending on the use you intend for the headphones (listening to music, movies, gaming, etc.). Finally, you can enjoy it for a long time with its 30 hours of autonomy.
