Few games in recent times have caused such controversy as Hogwarts Legacy. Numerous users called for the title to be boycotted for various reasons, and two real camps quickly formed around the upcoming RPG on the Internet. The actual release of the game will not take place until February 10th, but pre-orderers can already explore the world of Hogwarts Legacy in Early Access. This also means that the title already has a strong presence on Twitch and the viewership figures there suggest that interest in Hogwarts Legacy is likely to be quite high.
Hogwarts Legacy is going through the roof on Twitch
The game broke the viewership record for a single player game on Twitch, peaking at 1,253,916 views across the various streamers. With that, Hogwarts Legacy (buy now / 53.99 € ) pushed the previous record holder Cyberpunk, which was able to lure an impressive 1.14 million users in front of the screen, pretty confidently from the throne.
Viewer numbers on Twitch are of course no guarantee that a certain game will actually be successful. After all, most users might just want to see what the title is like, but ultimately not purchase it themselves. However, at least the majority of the approximately 30,000 streamers who broadcast Hogwarts Legacy at its peak probably bought the game. There is also a drop campaign currently running on Twitch where players can get some in-game items for Hogwarts Legacy by watching, which probably helped the viewership numbers a bit.

With this impressive record, Hogwarts Legacy’s viewership is roughly on par with multiplayer titles like Valorant, League of Legends, and Overwatch 2. Even more people might have watched the game if some streamers hadn’t chosen to, for various reasons , not to show the game live. Among other things, some users spread their frustration in the chat of various streamers who played the title for their live audience, which is why, among other things Streamer Hasan Piker explained, that being bullied by chat just for Hogwarts Legacy was simply not worth it.
