Nintendo announced plans to raise the salaries of its employees in Japan by 10% – the current drop in sales will not interfere with this move Switch to 20%.
It’s not clear whether the rise in salaries for non-country contributors will affect them, although some U.S. contract workers have noted a recent increase in earnings. For example, the rate of one of the testers who tracked bugs in major releases in 2023 exceeded $20 per hour – previously it was $16 per hour.
Nintendo’s decision is also surprising in that many other companies in the industry have recently laid off workers due to financial problems and falling revenue – this affected Microsoft, Ubisoft, Riot Games and so on. And already on the night of February 9 there will be a presentation Nintendo Direct, where they will talk about the games of the first half of 2023. Its start is scheduled for 01:00 Moscow time.
