The PC Gamer portal noticed that the 1997 cult shooter Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II from LucasArts recently received an unofficial remake on the Unreal Engine 4.

The rejuvenation of the classics of PC gaming of the 90s era was undertaken by an independent developer under the pseudonym Ruppertle, best known for mods for Arma. His goal was to recreate one of his childhood favorite games from scratch in a new engine.
Version 1.0, which can be downloaded for free from the Ruppertle page on Patreon, features the first two levels of the story campaign, a sandbox mode, four survival arenas, and a 3D model viewer.
Ruppertle’s remake of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II won’t impress the modern gamer with graphics, but it looks much better than the original 1997 release with its angular models.
In addition to firearms, Dark Forces II also has lightsabers. As expected, the plasma blade cuts through enemies and cuts off their limbs – a separate video is dedicated to this mechanic in the remake (attached below).
In the story, the mercenary Kyle Katarn discovers a connection with the Force and acquires Jedi abilities. The hero will have to defeat the dark Jedi and choose which side of the Force to stand on.
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was released in October 1997 on PC and earned 91 out of 100% on Metacritic. Modders have previously outfitted the original Star Wars: Dark Forces with support for modern systems.
