02/08/2023 at 17:30 by Sebastian Glanzer – The more the developers of WoW: Dragonflight add to the test realm for patch 10.0.7, the more it becomes apparent that the ominous Primordial Stones are fortunately not a borrowed power feature after all, that the fans feared.
With the launch of the test realm for WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7, gems called “Primoridal Stones” with powerful effects were discovered in the game files. Desirous Blood Stone, for example, drains life points from opponents and heals you in return. These primeval stones, like the shards of domination in Shadowlands, only fit into certain sockets such as those of the Onyx Annulet ring.
However, now that the first Primordial Stones can be tested on the PTR for Patch 10.0.7, one can sound the all-clear regarding a “borrowed power” feature. Unlike the Dominion Shards, while the Primordial Stones are powerful effects, they are not comparable to other so-called Borrowed Power features. There are several reasons for this, which we will discuss below.

Therefore, Primordial Stones are not Borrowed Power
The stones cannot be upgraded. They only fit Onyx Annulet, which is the only item with these special sockets. Some effects of the stones interact with each other, but do not form set bonuses or similar. Obtaining the stones is connected to RNG, you get the stones but very fast. Location and item level of the stones are fixed.
As already hoped, the Primordial Stones and the Onyx Annulet ring are just a kind of pocket-sized calculator. With a few runs through the new mini-scenario Zskera’s dungeon, you’ve almost got all the stones in your pocket. However, you still have to be careful about which Primeval Stones you put in the ring. You can replace gems in the ring, but they will be overwritten and then have to be found again if you want to use them again.
