Hogwarts Legacy is currently making a lot of noise, for good reasons but also for bad ones. Spoilers are out and we explain how to avoid them.
Hogwarts Legacy: Beyond the Boycott
You are certainly aware of the problems that arise with the release of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy for some players. If not, a quick recap is in order. Hogwarts Legacy is a game in the Harry Potter universe, universe created by JK Rowling. The author actively fights against the extension of the rights of trans people, communicates regularly on this subject and openly feeds her position as a TERF (feminist excluding trans people from the struggle). She has already received money for the game’s production and will certainly receive a certain number of sales again, although she was not involved in the development of Hogwarts Legacy. Add to that the problem that the presence of goblins and house-elves can cause in this universe and it starts to make a lot of people who can feel offended and affected by the situation. Unsurprisingly, some of them affirmed their desire not to participate in this big machine by buying the game and also called for a boycott of the title.
Already, this call had enraged more than one. There are those who found a possible boycott useless, those who decided to defend JK Rowling tooth and nail and those who took the opportunity to spit a little more on an entire community which is already particularly stigmatized. The tone rose quickly and positions polarized. The debate quickly became Manichean, sometimes even to the great displeasure of those concerned. Now that the game is out in Early Access, you would have thought things would calm down. Well it’s quite the opposite!
From a fairly classic call for boycott and awareness, we have moved on to a real witch hunt. A minority of people calling for the boycott started publicly displaying the streamers who shared the game and even embarked on a quest to spoil as many people as possible. It is important to remember that this is a minority and that the entire LGBTQIA+ community cannot (and above all should not) be held responsible, a community in which we find people who are already suffering a lot. of the situation. Dumping hate on people who do it is also not a solution. On the other hand, you can try to protect yourself from these spoilers.
Be careful, there are people who spoil the ending of Hogwarts Legacy to punish players or those who mention the Harry Potter universe.
No way to block keywords the spoiler is in the text of the image + capture of the game…

If you don’t want to be spoiled for the end of the game, we therefore advise you to be extremely vigilant.. It is not enough to hide certain words on Twitter. A few smart guys directly use images to spoil you. A small “Oh hey, I hadn’t noticed this easter egg” can therefore hide written indications on the image of the end of the game. Others cheerfully share rather telling captures of the conclusion of the game. vice to the end by proposing a thread on the words to hide to avoid any spoilers… and immediately after sharing the said captures. Suffice to say that it is better to avoid near or far any tweet mentioning the game and pay particular attention to the images. Moreover, if the latter are filtered by Twitter, there is a good chance that it is a spoiler.
On Twitch too, spoilers are out, especially on the chats of streamers broadcasting the game. If you are watching live on Hogwarts Legacy, we strongly advise against watching the chat. And it is better to remain vigilant even on other lives. Rare are the massive waves of spoilers and it will therefore be necessary to be very vigilant to slip through the cracks. But if you can’t, that shouldn’t stop you from having a great time in the game. Putting things into perspective remains the key word in this kind of situation.
