February 9th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. by Sebastian Glanzer – The new action role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t really been released yet and is already breaking records. The Harry Potter game, which is actually only available to all players on February 10th, will probably pulverize some records. Almost 500,000 players gambled on Steam via the early access of the Deluxe Edition.
Hogwarts Legacy turns out not only to be the most controversial video game in recent years, but also the most eagerly awaited. Although the game isn’t actually out yet, Hogwarts Legacy is already breaking records. On Twitch, even before the actual release, it is the most watched single-player game on the live streaming platform.
Anyone who has spent more money on the Deluxe Edition has been able to gamble since February 7th. The actual release is February 10th. Then the numbers will probably continue to go through the roof. At its peak, almost 490,000 players in the world of magic were online on Steam. If the game were already officially listed in Steam’s top 100, it would be in 3rd place behind long-running favorites CS:GO and Dota 2.
What records can Hogwarts Legacy break?
Experience has shown that only a fraction of players buy the expensive deluxe edition of a game. Unless Hogwarts Legacy players are all whales across the board, the number of Hogwarts Legacy players on Steam should easily double. This could take you to the top of Steam in terms of currently active players.
Dota 2 currently occupies second place in this category with a good 300,000 players. CS: GO has around 700,000 players. However, it will be difficult to break the record for “all-time peak” – i.e. the maximum value that has ever been measured in terms of players. You could possibly beat Lost Ark and CS:GO with 1.3 million players, but PUBG reigns supreme with a whopping 3.25 million simultaneous players.
