I still remember being younger, and saying “Mom, I’ll take the car!“, and she replied with a playful smile on her face “you must think he walks on water!“. Wow… and isn’t it that, with the evolution of automotive technology, there is already a car running on water? Make way for Quantino Twentyfive!
Electric Car (water) without batteries capable of 2000 kilometers!
Therefore, as we have said in the past, having an Electric Car is not immediately the same as having a vehicle based on batteries.
A hydrogen car is also an electric car, and of course, these new Quantino models are also electric cars. The difference is, while the hydrogen car uses a fuel cell to create electrical energy, the nanoFlowcell cars rely on a water-based fuel system with electrolytes.
More specifically, instead of batteries, the Quantino Twentyfive uses six fuel cells powered by a 125 liter tank of liquid fuel called bi-ION.
What is Bi-ION Liquid Fuel? Well, it’s a composite of seawater and recycled waste water.
This fuel, which I stress again, is mostly water, feeds 4 electric motors of 60kW, which in turn means 320 horsepower and a range of more or less 2000 kilometers. So what about acceleration? It’s fantastic! Since the engine is capable of taking this car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5s.
Does it look amazing? What’s missing?
Well, it is necessary to produce more fuel, and of course, to lower the cost per liter of it. The manufacturer is working hard on this project, with the aim of reducing the cost to 10 cents per liter.
Furthermore, so that nanoFlowcell is not purely and simply a car manufacturer, the company is also ready to license its technology to other brands. That is, in fact, the company just wants to validate the concept, and then sell the technology to third parties. Most likely the only way to succeed in this field, such is the rivalry, and money involved in this world. (Especially now, when the car market seems to be 100% battery driven).
Still, even with all the questions unanswered, the production of the first cars for the market should start in 2023.
