General Director of “shinnik” Sergey Kulakov in an interview with the media, the Russian Federation confirmed that in Turkey there was a fight between the players of the Yaroslavl team and Ukrainian football players from the Minai club:
“I can’t tell you the details of what happened, since I am in Yaroslavl, and the team is in Turkey. Now we are determining the circumstances, after which we will make an official position. As for the severity of the injuries, I have no information. Naturally, during a fight there may be abrasions. I can say that there was a skirmish between Russians and Ukrainians. Who participated in it – we are now finding out.
We did not know that the Ukrainian team would be staying at the hotel. We booked the hotel back in November, we had a position that Ukrainian football players would not live in the hotel in order to avoid conflicts. At that time, no one was there. Why the Ukrainian team appeared in the hotel is a question for the hotel, we understand this issue. I understand everything perfectly: business, money and everything else, but safety must come first.
I am in Yaroslavl, I do not have detailed information. We will post everything on the website later. The most important thing is that the players are safe at the moment. What is written about the injuries of football players has only been written so far. The severity of the injuries sustained in the fight is being established.”
Press attache of the “shinnik” Igor Merezhin also confirmed the fact of a fight between the players of the Yaroslavl team and the Ukrainian players from the Mynay club: “There was such a fact. Several people were injured, but nothing serious, no fractures.”
As reported, on February 13, the Ukrainian players of Minay beat the Russians from the Shinnik in a mass brawl in one of the Turkish hotels.
The Antalya police received no complaints in connection with the conflict: “Nobody contacted us about any fight in the hotel. We have no detainees in connection with this situation,” the police station said.
