Edition TweakTown suggested that by mid-2023, cumulative game sales across all generations PlayStation can exceed six billion copies. Journalists base their conclusions on data published by the corporation Sony.
A more accurate time stamp is called the first fiscal quarter, which ends on June 30th. Data from Sony makes it clear that over 5.913 billion games have now been sold. An interesting fact is that the documents about the success of the PlayStation Vita were not published. Considering the portable console, sales of games on all generations of the PlayStation could already exceed 6 billion.
To reach the documented milestone, another 87 million games need to be sold. Most often, such sales are achieved during the holidays: in the third quarter of 2022, 86.5 million games were bought on the PlayStation.
On average, for the fourth quarter (January-March), 60-65 million games are sold on consoles, with the exception of 2021, when the record was 70.5 million copies sold. Thus, Sony can overcome the required milestone in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, which will run from April to June.
