Twitter CEO Elon Musk is ready to appoint a new CEO before the end of 2023, by which time a year has passed since his resignation poll was published.
“I have to stabilize the organization and make sure it is financially healthy, with a clear roadmap. I admit that towards the end of the year there will be a good moment for the appointment of a new head of the company,” Elon Musk said at the World Government Summit in Dubai, according to Bloomberg.
He did not provide any statements or clues as to who might take over the company; but after the interview, he posted a joking tweet with a photo of his dog Floki sitting at his desk, writing: “Twitter’s new CEO is amazing.”

Bloomberg and CNBC reported that in recent months, an active search for a new director has continued, but even potential candidates have not been found.
After being polled about his own resignation (according to the results, 57% of more than 17.5 million people wanted him to resign), Musk said that he would step down as CEO after he found a “dumb enough” successor, but would continue to work at the company, managing software and server departments.
Elon Musk appointed himself to the position of CEO immediately after acquiring Twitter for an incredible $44 billion in October 2022. His leadership was marked by mass layoffs in the company, controversial policies and falling advertising revenue.
The media write that the billionaire is very obsessed with his own popularity – he is so worried about the fall in his own coverage on Twitter that he forces engineers to change algorithms for him under the threat of layoffs.
Despite Musk’s comments about his upcoming departure, the entrepreneur repeatedly made promises that he put off “for later.” Production of the promised Tesla Cybertruck will start two years later than the end-of-2021 target date given at the 2019 launch. He previously stated that Tesla would be able to drive on US roads by the end of 2017.
