Former Spain player Fernando Llorente, who is known for his performances for Athletic Bilbao, has announced his retirement. The footballer hung up his boots at the age of 37.
“I have already decided everything for myself. You won’t see me on the field. I will do sports by playing padel.”
During his career, in addition to Athletic, Llorente played for the Basque Country, Juventus, Sevilla, Swansea, Tottenham, Napoli, Udinese and Eibar. For the Spanish national team, he played 24 matches, in which he scored 7 goals. Together with the national team, he won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.
Together with Tottenham, he played in the 2018/2019 Champions League final, and with Sevilla he won the Europa League in the 2015/2016 season. He won the most trophies while at Juventus: two victories in the Italian championship, two victories in the Italian Super Cup, a victory in the Italian Cup and the 2014/2015 Champions League final.
However, he played most of the games for Athletic Bilbao: 262 matches, in which he scored 82 goals. Llorente’s last club was the Spanish Eibar.
