On February 19, in the French city of Grenoble, a young rowing athlete from Ukraine, Valeria Sarapina, died in a traffic accident.
The coach Natalya Guba announced the tragic news.
The girl left for France after the start of the full-scale phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war in order to be able to continue training, since access to open water is prohibited in Ukraine.
Sarapina was a graduate of the Youth Sports School No. 1 of the city of Kamenskoye, Dnepropetrovsk region. She was the champion and winner of the championships of the region and Ukraine in rowing.
