Developer Genshin Impact has filed a lawsuit against Twitter, demanding that the social network release information about three users who frequently leak content from the game. Since the release of the game in September 2020, the game has gained immense popularity, and has allowed developers to earn millions of dollars, not to mention the fact that each new banner brings even more millions. However, this success has led to a huge community of developers too quickly began to share information about the restricted content of the beta version of the game.
In the lawsuit, the studio requires the social network Twitter to provide information about three individuals involved in the Genshin Impact leaks. The document requires the developers to provide several pieces of identifying information, including the names, phone numbers and IP addresses of active leakers under the pseudonyms Merlin Impact, Genshin World and XWides.
HoYoverse has frequently targeted widely used platforms and social networks such as Discord. Now the developer has turned his attention to Twitter as a platform for finding sources of information leaks. Such activity began due to previously leaked material related to future content, which showed players a new region of the game, types of structures, and location of the area.
Leaks continue to be a common problem for Genshin Impact as the community of developers with access to beta content grows and becomes more difficult to control.
