February 23rd, 2023 at 4:44 p.m. by Jonathan Harsch – With a brand new monthly system, Amazon wants to give their MMO New World a second spring. In addition to an extensive Season Pass, there will be a whole range of new content at the end of March.
MMOs are a special genre – some titles shut down the servers after just a few months because players prefer to play tried-and-tested representatives, and other titles bring developers and publishers fortunes over many years. Which category Amazon’s New World belongs to has not yet been decided. The game was able to generate hype at launch, then the servers were suddenly swept empty before gradually populating again towards the end of last year. The developers now want to use this positive momentum by giving New World a fresh monetization model and lots of new content.
This is the new content for New World in March 2023
Previously, cosmetic content in New World (Buy Now) could only be purchased from an in-game shop. This will change fundamentally from the end of next month. March 28th sees the launch of the MMO’s first season, which will mark the beginning of the fresh approach to delivering new content. The Battle Pass will include two tracks, one free and one paid, which the developers say will cost around $20 (20,000 Marks of Fortune). Both rails offer 100 levels, each with a reward for hard-working players. Fortunately, gameplay content and pay-to-win benefits shouldn’t be hidden behind the paywall.
Specific content that can be unlocked with the Battle Pass are emotes, skins, gear and boost tokens. The Season Pass can be leveled up both through regular activities such as missions and through the new seasonal content such as the season journey, quests and activity cards. The name of the first season is Comradeship & Fire and offers a new story in addition to the mentioned content. Each season will take about three months.
