A new series from HBO, which is based on the highly regarded game series The Last of Us, deservedly hit the list the most popular game adaptations and received praise from viewers. Many users were delighted with the characters, production and scenery of the film adaptation, where the last two elements deserve special thanks to the visual effects team.
The creators of the series, who were responsible for the use of computer graphics in the show, decided to reveal all the magic and show the scale of their work as part of the material for the Art of VFX portal. In the footage below, you can see a comparison of the scenes before and after special effects processing. Some shots sometimes consist entirely of fictional locations, while other moments require only a subtle addition of the necessary elements.
The eminent DNEG studio is responsible for the study of all visual effects in The Last of Us series. The excellent graphics quality of the film adaptation of the game is not surprising if you look at the track record of VFX specialists, they were behind the special effects in films such as Inception, Interstellar and Blade Runner 2049.
