How about going back in time and taking a look at your self from a few years ago at the push of a button? That’s what the new release promises TikTok rejuvenation filter that went viral this week, using artificial intelligence (AI) to turn adults into teenagers.
A face alteration technology is already among the biggest trends in the short video app, having been used by millions of people around the world with the tag #teenagefilter. And from the comments, the tool proved to be efficient, allowing people aged 40 and over to remember what their face looked like decades ago.
In the tweet below, posted on Thursday (23) by the user @memotv, it is possible to see several samples of the effect in action, as well as people’s reactions when they saw the transformation. Many also took the opportunity to put on background music that refers to the era remembered from technology.

I’ve always said wrt AI, expect the unexpected, the future’s gonna be weirder than anyone can imagine. Skynet is the last thing to be worried about.

Any user curious to remember what their face looked like in the 2000s, 1990s or before can test the function. To do so, just open the TikTok app, tap “Effects” on the left side of the screen, or “Filters” on the right side, select the rejuvenation option and press the recording screen.
Technology divides opinion
Many users were happy and moved by the result provided by the simulation carried out on the social network, recalling adolescence. Some people also took advantage of the effect to compare themselves with their children and grandchildren, noticing great similarities.
However, there were also those who were concerned about the impressive ability to create realistic images of the tool, as you can see in the comments. For these people, there is a chance that AI will be used in negative ways, facilitating the application of scams and harassment on the social network, for example.
Others also remembered the similarity with the deepfake technique, highlighting the risks that technology can bring if it is not used well.
