…1995: On March 2, 1995, David Filo and Jerry Yang founded Yahoo in Sunnyvale, California. Both are Stanford visitors in 1994 and are working on an “Internet Web Site Catalog” that is fast becoming an annotated bookmark collection. The website is initially launched under the name of Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web and already has over 100,000 users in the fall of 1994. In 1995 the company was officially founded as Yahoo and in 1996 the company went public with 46 employees. In the meantime, around 13,500 employees worked for Yahoo, the company was represented in 41 countries and 21 languages. Yahoo Germany is founded on January 28, 1996.
