O WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the world. Over the years, it is certain that the messenger has grown to become much more than a simple instant messaging application. It currently has a strong social component, something that will continue to grow in importance.
In particular, according to the new information advanced by the WABetaInfo publication, we will have the function of an information leaflet for channels and other agents through the application.
In other words, the Meta group platform could introduce the Newsletter or upcoming information leaflet with customizable periodicity.
Newsletters could be the next thing to hit WhatsApp
At issue is a less ephemeral format than State or Status updates with a maximum duration of 24 hours. In effect, the Meta group will be working on a new function for periodically sending information summaries or leaflets.
In other words, we count on the availability of newsletters through the Android and iOS applications of this messenger. At the moment, the function was discovered by the publication WABetaInfo, a medium specializing in WhatsApp developments.
It will be a new feature to reinforce WhatsApp’s social component, giving more capabilities to its Communities and Group Chats, for example. So far, this function has been detected in beta version v2.23.5.8 and will also come to iOS in the future.
Fact Sheet Goes Beyond Status Updates on WhatsApp
The aforementioned source had already detected the first lines of code indicating this capability in early February. Now, we already have a window prepared and apparently functional, as we can see in the images above.
The exact implementation of this function still raises doubts, however, it could be something more substantial than state updates in the application. According to the source, the content will be presented in a horizontal carousel format with the names of the contacts to be displayed below.
That said, this feature is currently under development, so it may take some time to reach stable versions of the app for Android and iOS. Simultaneously, the Meta group is also preparing new implementations and appearance for the States menu.
In short, we have a gradual reinforcement of the social component of WhatsApp that increasingly integrates elements from the social networks Facebook and Instagram.
