If you’re looking forward to the release of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC but can’t wait for the new open world game experience, then mod Eldenlands for you. With a complete overhaul of Elden Ring with its own set of DLC on the way, Eldenlands wants to make FromSoftware’s great opus more like MMOs and traditional RPGs, with lots of colossal changes and lots of new content.
Eldenlands Remastered by tailpower2 is an update to his previous Eldenlands mod that wants to turn FromSoftware’s Elden Ring into a “systematically brand new game” inspired by both MMORPGs and traditional RPGs.
While we’re all waiting for Elden Ring DLC, this mod already has DLC as the newest The Master Within expansion tells the story of how you take power from a future version of yourself and use it to help the “four great masters” and even has new subclasses to choose from, similar to the specializations in World of Warcraft.
This is just the tip of the iceberg as there are a lot of system changes in the mod that will drastically change how you create your character and interact with the Interdungeon.
Here are all the new Eldenlands features:
Character builds benefit from role fit (e.g. Snow Witch theme or Bleeding build). Starting classes have been redesigned like in MMOs: each has an item and a specialization. Reworked unique drops so items can be found in similar themed areas (eg Lightning Ashes in Altus Plateau) to encourage re-exploration. Reworked merchants: they sell various items and open goods when you complete their quests. Flux Changes: It can be summoned in more areas, but has less health and needs to be fed with raisins New “Unstoppable” Attacks: Inspired by Sekiro’s dangerous attack system, “Unstoppable” attacks go through your iframes, parries, and blocks, but they can resist headbutt. Attack Reactions: When certain hits are dealt, enemies can freeze, burn, etc. Raids: These will be added to the Elden Ring mod, just like the MMO, and will support co-op play. Everyone will have a raid boss and defeating him will give you weapons with randomly generated modifiers. World Map Level System: You now have access to the entire map from the start, but each area scales with a level system, allowing for complexity to be split instead of “dramatically different scale”.
Eldenlands has a ton of other improvements and balance changes, and more content and changes as mentioned, are coming, so if you’re looking to update from FromSoftware before the Elden Ring DLC release, the Eldenlands mod is definitely a great option. There’s even a roadmap for the mod, with both the Bestiary and The Secrets of War expansion planned.
