More than 25 million players have subscribed to the Game Pass gaming service, according to the latest data officially published by Microsoft. The Xbox team is actively trying to promote the Game Pass subscription among players, adding to it the widest possible variety of projects – from big AAA hits to small indie games, thereby attracting a different audience.
One of the games that should be available on Game Pass soon is Spirittea. It is being developed by the Cheesemaster Games studio, whose head Dan Beckerton spoke about the game service in an interview with Trueachievements:
I think game subscription services like Game Pass are great for a wide variety of gamers. Not everyone who loves games is as good at gaming news as I or others in the industry. Personally, I hear about all kinds of games, read their reviews, watch how the community reacts to various aspects of games, and can usually get a pretty good idea of what a game is all about before even trying it out.
However, Game Pass delivers many of these games straight to the face – for hardcore gamers and casual users alike. Which gives games that would have gone unnoticed another chance to really impress people. This is good for both gamers and developers.
Gamers get the opportunity to discover new things without going broke, and developers get another chance to impress the people they would like to get into their games. All in all, this is a pretty good situation.
Dan Beckerton also named the advantages of Game Pass over Playstation Plus and other game subscription services:
One of Game Pass’s main advantages over the competition is the release of brand new games (like Spirittea) on the service on day one. This is pretty hard to beat, especially when competitors typically only offer games that were released months or years ago.
Recall that Spirittea does not yet have a release date, the game should be released this year.
