A bug in the latest NVIDIA driver causes the processor to run at up to 15% load after exiting the game. Due to the nature of the problem, it is difficult to notice immediately. The Verge editor Tom Warren wrote about the driver malfunction, recommending a return to the previous version of the driver:
NVIDIA is aware of the issue and is working on a solution, the issue has been officially listed. This means that NVIDIA may soon release a driver patch or add a fix to the issue in the next Game Ready release. Given the impact of this bug, there is likely to be an urgent fix.
To determine if you are affected by this issue, use the Windows Task Manager and check the Processes tab. The situation will look something like this:
The easiest solution is to revert to the older 528.49 WHQL driver, or simply force close the process or restart your computer. The exact cause of the problem is unknown, however, some users recommend deleting one DLL from the driver directory at their own risk:
