Google has announced that its proprietary VPN feature has become available to all paid Google One subscribers. Previously, Google VPN was only available to those subscribed to the Google One Premium plan and above.
The basic Google One subscription offers 100GB of storage, the Premium plan offers 2TB. For users storing up to 15 GB for free, Google VPN is still unavailable.
The minimum Google One plan that includes the service is available for $1.99 per month. A substantial discount for a Google VPN considering the 2TB plan costs $9.99. The service works in 22 countries on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac devices, and VPN access can be shared with up to 5 other users within the same Google One plan. List of countries where Google VPN is available:
Austria Australia Belgium Canada Denmark Finland France Germany Iceland Ireland Italy Japan Mexico Netherlands Norway South Korea Spain Sweden Switzerland Taiwan United Kingdom USA
For Google One subscribers in the US, Google is introducing a new feature that will allow users to track their personal information on the dark web. The user can create a profile with the information that needs to be tracked – you can add an email address, physical address, social security number, phone number and date of birth, and other data.
If Google finds the specified data during a crawl, the user will receive a notification with suggestions on what steps to take. The Dark Web Report is currently exclusive to One subscribers, but will be available at all subscription levels.
Paying Google One users in these countries should get VPN access for their accounts within the next few weeks.
Built-in VPN in Microsoft Edge – already in stable build for some users and offering 1 GB of free data per month
