More than three million copies of the PS5 have been sold in Japan alone after a sales boom in recent weeks.
During the week, we reported that PS5 sales in Japan were up week-on-week increased by 457 percent. But there is also a new total sales figure. With the sales boosts of the past few months, Sony managed to break the three million mark on the Japanese market.
David Gibson, Senior Analyst at MST Financial, drew attention to this in a tweet: “Japan – The PS5 has now sold 3 million units! It has surpassed the 125 weeks of the PS3 and 131 weeks of the PS4 within 121 weeks [die bis zum erreichen der 3 Millionen nötig waren]!“
The recent success of the PS5 is illustrated using a graphic. In recent weeks, sales of the Sony console have increased significantly, which can be attributed, among other things, to significantly better availability.

Better availability also boosted sales in other countries. So was sales of the console in the UK more than tripled. The PS5 was the last in the world 32.1 million shipped.
Delivery problems largely resolved
In Germany, too, it is no longer a problem to discover a PS5 in stores. The console can be used quite comfortably, for example PlayStation Direct ordered, where there are several options to choose from:
