Water in Sons of the Forest is an important resource, without which it becomes simply impossible to survive on the island. The mechanics of dehydration can take you by surprise at the most inopportune moment. However, the game provides several ways to obtain a life-giving source, including finding various supplies on the island and creating flasks for emergencies.

How to drink water in Sons Of The Forest
It should be borne in mind that drinking water will not work if you hold a spear or other large object in your hands. The restriction does not apply to smaller weapons such as axes, but it is still recommended to do so empty-handed. There are several options for where to get water or other resources to quench your thirst:
Freshwater bodies (rivers, lakes). In this case, it is enough to get close to the source until a prompt window appears, and then press the “E” key. One sip fills the thirst meter not completely, but only by 50%.
3D printed flask. The item must be selected in the inventory (the white container located at the bottom left of the main section), then pick it up and press the LMB (left mouse button). The flask allows you to take no more than 4 sips.
Loot on the island: energy drink, yarrow – white flowers usually grow in several bunches in forest areas, berries (cloudberries, blueberries), but weakly quench thirst, and a bottle of vodka is very intoxicating.
How to make a flask
To create a flask, you first need to find bunkers with 3D printers, since it’s impossible to find a flask just by exploring the location, you can only create it. There are several printers on the island, and all are located inside shelterswhich are marked on the GPS-navigator green circle.
One of these bunkers is located in the western part of the island, not far from the lake, where five rivers flow. For convenience, you can use the interactive map.
Before entering, prepare a torch, flashlight or lighter in advance. After making your way inside, go straight through the cave until you find yourself in a long corridor leading to a room. There you will find a laptop and a printer.
Required for printing 100 ml. resin. There is no need to specifically look for material, since initially it should be in sufficient quantity in the printer. If not, look for resin at shelves or in suitcases in the room. This should be enough for 1-2 flasks.
Interact with the laptop and scroll (key «R») to the flask page, then hold “Well”to print it.
How to fill a flask
The only way to get water in a flask is to go to any source of fresh water (river or lake), pick up a flask, look down and press “E”. The flask is filled immediately to 100%. You can only have one flask in your inventory at a time, so it’s important to always check how much water you have left.
How to get water in Sons Of The Forest
To extract water from other external sources, for example, using collectors, at the moment it is forbidden. In the first part of “The Forest” it was possible to accumulate it in a turtle shell when it rained. Here the shells are also present, but it will not work to collect water in them. Probably, mechanics will be added only in future updates. Therefore, it remains to apply the methods listed above: collect loot, fill flasks either in advance build a base near a fresh water body.
How to drink in winter
In the cold season, the search is complicated by the fact that the water freezes, and there are no tools for breaking through the ice yet.
It is important to note that ice only covers standing wateri.e. lakes. Rivers or small streams emerging from bodies of water can still be used to drink in winter. However, you should not stay in such water for too long, as the character begins to freeze, which is why he loses stamina.
