New data revealed by the publication SamMobile show that Samsung is preparing a new Galaxy SmartTag. A gadget that should be presented to consumers later this year.
Indeed, this will be the second generation of the location gadget by the South Korean giant. A device whose main mission is to improve what the current version provides.
Second generation Samsung Galaxy SmartTag will arrive in the summer
I want to remind you that the first Galaxy SmartTag was unveiled in the first days of 2021. This was not one of the South Korean’s most successful products, but that does not prevent it from renewing its offer in this niche market.
According to SamMobile sources, a new version of this product will be launched in the third quarter of 2023. This means that it could arrive in full version, more specifically at Samsung’s traditional August event.
On that occasion, the brand will also unveil its new generation of foldable smartphones, a new smart watch and possibly new wireless headphones. It will certainly be the best occasion to add one more element to its extensive ecosystem.
The news that the next Galaxy SmartTag will have to offer is something that is not yet well defined. However, we can easily speculate that it has to do with its reach, alert volume and, above all, new mechanisms to prevent unwanted tracking.
The new version of this location gadget will have the arduous task of combating Apple’s success with its AirTag. This has been the dominant product in this market segment and which brands like Samsung look to when considering a similar solution.
Google will also be considering the development and launch of a product with identical characteristics. If that’s true, the location gadget market could get a lot livelier in 2023.
