03/13/2023 at 11:00 a.m. by Susanne Braun – A production team of the 2nd season of the Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has now apparently ended up on the Canary Island of Tenerife, which in turn means that the series after her farewell to New Zealand will not be filmed exclusively in Great Britain. The assumption is that Tenerife offers the imposing environment for Rhûn and thus for the journey of the stranger and Noris.
According to rumors picked up by the folks at Fellowship of Fans a few days ago, the film crews for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power aren’t going exclusively to the UK for Season 2 filming. After the end of the first season of the series, it was already known that the production would be moved from New Zealand to Europe.
Some Lord of the Rings and Rings of Power fans have spotted a production team on the Canary Island of Tenerife; there is apparently rotated in the national park El Teide. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and is primarily volcanic, which is why you will find impressive black beaches on the island. The highest mountain in Spanish national territory, the Pico del Teide, is a stratovolcano with hardly any vegetation in the El Teide National Park.
The assumption of the fans of Rings of Power is therefore therefore obvious that scenes with the stranger and his companions are shot on Tenerife, who set off towards Rhûn at the end of the first season. While Rhûn is associated with grasslands, mountains, and woodlands in the Legendarium, little is really known about the general look. A dry wasteland and a high mountain in the background are quite conceivable.

Whether actors Daniel Weyman (The Stranger) and Markella Kavenagh (Nori) are actually hiding beneath the leafy green robes shown in the clips in the Fellowship of Fans video is unknown. Of course, it is still questionable which storyline will develop in Rhûn – whether the stranger will finally get a name, for example. It is also conceivable, since the Stranger is assumed to be a wizard, that the character could be one of the blue wizards, Pallando or Alatar. More widespread is the assumption that he could turn out to be Gandalf or Saruman.
