As The Sims 4 prepares to welcome a new expansion, fans have already noticed easter eggs in the new elements to come. Once again, the creators of The Sims seem to be big fans of Final Fantasy XIV as evidenced by a recently spotted reference.
Waiting for the Sims 5…
Originally released in 2014, The Sims 4 continues to grace Electronic Arts with new content on a regular basis, even nearly a decade later.. This time, the life simulation game adds tomorrow, March 16, a brand new expansion pack called Growing Together. Additional content focused on family with the introduction of infants, a new stage in the lives of Sims that is gaining interest since there will be much more interaction at this age. Beyond that, the DLC adds new factors such as family dynamics, social compatibilities between family members or even milestones. In addition to all this, the extension introduces many objects that some YouTubers had the chance to discover in advance during a preview organized by EA. And among them, we find a drawing that will bring back memories to players… of Final Fantasy XIV.
When FFXIV meets The Sims 4, an unlikely crossover
Among all the objects added, there is a board on which children can draw. Among the illustrations, we discover a house in the shape of a mushroom, a mitten in the snow, a kite… but above all a blue bird flying in space. Say like that, it doesn’t seem like much, but this image is enough to bring back strong memories for Final Fantasy XIV players. In order not to reveal too much, we will simply explain that it isa very important character in Endwalkerthe latest extension to Square Enix’s MMORPG that brings the title’s first great saga to a conclusion.
For my fellow Eorzean Simmers, here are the Raktika – I mean, ahem… “Racked Teak-a Greatshelves”
(I wrote this pretty soon after finishing Shadowbringers, can you blame me? FFXIV has forever taken over my brain 🤭) pic.twitter.com/AA4DZCzeqM

If the link between the two seems far-fetched until now, know that this is not the first time that the creators of The Sims have referenced FFXIV. In the past, Molly, a producer on The Sims 4 known as GuruNova in the community, has pointed out that there are already nods to Final Fantasy XIV in previous expansions. For example, just above, you can find shelves whose description refers to Shadowbringers, with direct quotes from the expansion’s main theme. A beautiful tribute therefore between these two experiences which have made PC gamers happy for almost a decade each.
