Microsoft offers EU remedies for approving acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft has offered the EU remedies to obtain antitrust clearance from the European Union for its proposed acquisition of video game company Activision Blizzard.
The EU will make a decision by May 22nd. You want to get feedback on this from customers and companies beforehand.
The EU Commission has not given details of the measures offered, but according to the MLex Report (via ResetEra) it includes the “obligation to make Activision Blizzard’s game catalog available on competing cloud gaming services.”
Not included are concessions to “allay EU concerns about the impact of the takeover on Sony’s PlayStation or Google’s PC operating system.”
Earlier this week, Microsoft made efforts to allay government concerns, particularly regarding Call of Duty. Several partnerships would be announced to make the shooter series and other games from Xbox and later Activision Blizzard accessible to even more people.
