Earlier today, March 16th, British studio Splash Damage announced that it is teaming up with Shroud to create its next game. This project, which is also collaborating with content creator Sacriel, will be a brand new “AAA open world survival game”.
At the moment, little is known about the new survival game other than that it has been named Project Astrid. Splash Damage will be the sole developer on the new game, and it boasts a studio of 450 developers — employees who are working on Transformers: Reactivate at the same time.
“Sacriel and Shroud are core members of our development team, bringing with them a unique and fresh perspective. Not only that, they give us a whole new understanding of what fans and creators really want from their games. No one knows this genre better, than them,” said Lance Winters, creative director of Project Astrid.
Speaking of roles, both Sacriel and Shroud are taking on “executive creator” duties.
“We want to make the best survival game ever, and with the brains of Sacriel and the Splash Damage team, I know we can do it,” Shroud said of the new collaboration, clearly accompanying a bold vision of what the project will eventually become.
We’ll likely be waiting a few years to see something tangible from Project Astrid, considering it’s just been announced, not to mention Splash Damage has another game in the works at the same time.
