The platform of short vertical videos Yappy, which is part of the Gazprom-Media holding and is positioned as the Russian analogue of TikTok, has announced the launch of the Marathon project. It provides for the payment of remuneration to content authors, RBC reports with reference to the CEO of the platform, Danila Ovcharov.

To participate in the monetization program, a blogger must have at least 300 subscribers, more than 5 thousand views of all videos published in the last 30 days, in addition, he must publish one video of non-advertising content daily. Payments will be made every two weeks – they will be received by the authors whose videos were in the daily 100 views and interactions.
The project manager did not specify other details, but said that “76% of the representatives of the creative industries surveyed do not earn money on creativity, despite the fact that they really want to,” and the amount of payments should be comparable to the market average. Mr. Ovcharov also did not disclose the total amount of investments in Yappy, but admitted that the platform exists at the expense of Gazprom-Media. In the future, the emergence of other monetization models is also not excluded: advertising, subscription to exclusive content or paid services – for example, the purchase of additional functions and new profile options.
The top manager did not announce the timing of the platform’s profitability, but noted that now the priority for it is “product development and attracting an audience.” The strategic development of the platform is still devoted to education, music and gaming. In particular, the project “Yappy Classes” is being developed, aimed at developing simple and visual educational content in the format of vertical videos; game developers will be able to build relationships with gamers; and musicians to promote their creativity. Cooperation with other units of the holding is also allowed: there are already joint projects with Match TV and TNT channels.
