Popular streamers Shroud and Sacriel have teamed up with Splash Damage to create the “best open-world survival sim”. The upcoming AAA project, codenamed Project Astrid, will be based on the original intellectual property. The developers haven’t revealed any details yet, but Mike “Shroud” Grzesik has already expressed his optimism:
“This project means everything to me,” Shroud said. “Chris and I have developed a vision for what should be next in the survival genre, and together with Splash Damage we are going to make it happen. We want to make the best survival sim ever, and with the brains of Sacriel and the Splash Damage team, I know we can do it.”
Meanwhile, Chris “Sacriel” Ball noted that Project Astrid is his dream come true:
“Mike and I envisioned a world where we help create games that streamers and gamers love to play,” the streamer added. “The opportunity to work with such a respected and experienced team as Splash Damage is a great honor. In our joint work to date, it has become clear to us that we are indeed part of the team and that we have every chance to help make this dream a reality.”
Shroud and Sacriel are the executive creators of Project Astrid. The game’s creative director Lance Winter called them core members of the development team, adding that “no one knows the genre better than they do.” Of course, it is still too early to talk about approximate dates, since the project is at an early stage of creation.
