In addition to the already released regular AMD Epyc 9004 series (“Genoa”), which has a maximum of 96 Zen 4 processor cores produced by TSMC in 5 nanometers and is primarily addressed to the enterprise areas for cloud servers and data centers, this year there are still two special solutions on AMD’s server roadmap. Interesting information about AMD Genoa-X and Siena has now become known again.

AMD Genoa-X with up to 1,152 MiByte stacked L3 cache
A document circulating on the short message service Twitter underpins previous information on the expected total of five models of the special solution Genoa-X, with their up to 1,152 MiByte additional 3D V-Cache and all in all 1.25 GiByte fast cache. The document certifies that the 400-watt processor has a clock speed of up to 3.7 GHz on the 96 cores, which is obviously the top model, the AMD Epyc 9684X.

Genoa-X takes over exactly the position that Milan-X still holds in the current portfolio, whereby the CPUs of the current generation based on the Zen 3 architecture can “only” offer up to 64 cores, 128 threads and 768 MiByte L3 cache .

It’s not for nothing that AMD officially speaks of “1+ GB L3 Cache Per Socket”.
Genoa-X is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2023
At the AMD Financial Analyst Day 2022 in June last year, the manufacturer announced Genoa-X for the first half of 2023. The same applies to two other special solutions that either rely less on cache and more on as many processor cores as possible, or on cost optimization.
Siena as a low-cost offshoot with 64 Zen 4 cores
On the smaller SP6 socket with “only” 4,844 contact points, a halved memory interface and a maximum of 64 Zen 4 cores, Siena as the AMD Epyc 8004 series is intended to address markets that do not have an expensive and oversized Genoa or Genoa-X on the huge SP5 socket with 12 channel memory need. The cost-optimized CPUs should appear in the second half of 2023.

The maximum should be 3.15 GHz clock frequency and an L3 cache of a maximum of 128 MiByte, which is halved compared to the large Epyc 9004. Siena addresses the enterprise areas of telecommunications and edge computing.
Bergamo increases up to 128 Zen 4c cores
Also expected in 2023 is AMD Bergamo, a cloud processor with up to 128 Zen 4c cores and a very high thread density. Two models with 128 and 112 processor cores are expected here.
Turin with Zen 5, Zen 5c and again with 3D V-Cache
From 2024, the AMD Epyc 9005 series (“Turin”) based on Zen 5 should take over and also offer special solutions with 3D V-Cache and cloud optimization again. The manufacturer also officially confirmed this as part of the AMD Financial Analyst Day 2022 and showed a corresponding roadmap.
