An F-Zero GX remaster may be in development at Next Level Games, the team behind Luigi’s Mansion 3, according to the Nintendo Prime YouTube channel.
The reliability of the source rather requires verification, but the news is already beginning to circulate on various sites and certainly not far-fetched.
F-Zero GX was originally released in 2003 for the Nintendo Gamecube and is the latest chapter in the series to hit the home console, followed by F-Zero Climax on the Game Boy Advance, the last chapter ever.
Since then, the franchise has remained completely forgotten, despite being one of Nintendo’s historic series that began with the famous Super Nintendo entry that showed the world the possibilities of Mode 7 graphics technology.
It goes without saying that Nintendo fans have been waiting decades for the return of F-Zero, which makes us take this rumor with some interest. The idea of a remastered version of the F-Zero GX cannot be ruled out, given the quality of the original and the fact that a remastered version of the series might well be possible.
Considering the series remains somewhat niche at the moment, it’s entirely possible that Nintendo prefers to start with a remaster in order to restart the series and see any results. However, the fact that it can be entrusted to Next Level Games, one of the most talented Nintendo teams, the author of the excellent Luigi’s Mansion 3, is very interesting.
On the other hand, until a few months ago, an insider was talking about the return of F-Zero in 2023.
