Synopsis

The Officium Ensemble has established itself as one of the most prominent Portuguese vocal groups dedicated to early music. The purity of the sound that characterizes it comes from the work of fusion, emission and balance that the group has developed since its creation, under the direction of Pedro Teixeira. Allied to this characteristic, the commitment and expressiveness of the ensemble singers have led the Officium Ensemble to be acclaimed for its remarkable and consistent performances.

The repertoire he dominates spans the entire period of the Renaissance, early Baroque and contemporary music, dedicating himself with special focus to ancient Portuguese music.

In this concert, the Officium Ensemble dedicates itself to Renaissance polyphonic compositions that left their mark in the history of Western music, becoming masterpieces of reference, such as Missa Papae Marcelli, by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and the Crucifixus in eight voices, written by Antonio Lotti.
