03/19/2023 at 5:45 p.m. by Julius Kahl – In just over two months, Inkbound, a turn-based roguelike from the Shiny Shoe developer studio, will appear on Steam. The game will be playable in both single player and online co-op modes. First reports say that the title has addictive potential. The optics and the teased story were also praised.
The developer studio Shiny Shoe, known for games like Monster Train, are preparing the release of a new game. In a good two months, the game Inkbound is to be released in early access, which is already arousing the interest of the players on various screenshots. The title is an online roguelike that can be played alone or in a group with friends. But what distinguishes Inkbound and is it worth taking a look at the Early Access release?
Inkbound: What is the roguelike about?
The gameplay is as follows: players move freely in the world and switch to turn-based gameplay during combat. Here the players can then carry out attacks and also receive or defend enemy attacks. The focal point is the equipment with numerous upgrades, which should lead to players picking out the most efficient builds and synergies with other players. The groups can include up to four players.

Inkbound takes place in a magic library and is set to release first in Early Access on Steam on May 22nd, 2023. A first video, in which the developers talk about similarities to Monster Train, can also be found on YouTube. The video game magazine PC Gamer is already impressed by Inkbound: “I’ve played with the test version myself for a few minutes and it looks promising: the underlying mechanics are familiar – you run through semi-random, linear ones from a central hub levels and take part in numerous battles along the way – but the game world is very pretty and the story also intrigues me.”
