It’s not news to anyone that the world of smartphones has seriously increased in the last 2 years. After all, at this point in the championship, Xiaomi’s top of the range, which has traditionally always been known as a brand committed to offering the best possible product for a fair amount of money, is more expensive than the current iPhone 14 Pro, one of the most desired, and most expensive, smartphones on the market.
This is exactly why many consumers have turned to lower ranges, used ones, refurbished ones, and apparently also for renting or leasing smartphones. It’s an interesting phenomenon, which has even had some success when done by the brands themselves, as is the case with Samsung, which makes a large part of its range of top smartphones available, starting with a ‘rental’ model for 1 year, 1 year and a half or even 2 years.
But did you know that it is also possible to rent a smartphone for 1 or 2 days? A business model focused on events such as birthdays, weddings, baptisms, etc?
Smartphone rental has already reached used and refurbished!
Therefore, even with the rise of smartphones in general, users still want to have a good smartphone in their hands, so they start to investigate some less conventional alternatives. Which quite honestly are starting to gain a lot of popularity as they appear in various stores. As a matter of fact, I believe it is only a matter of time before large surfaces start to offer this type of service.
Some examples are the 2ndmobile.pt (which takes over, and later rents the smartphones), or the futurdata.ptwhich has a very similar business model, but apparently more focused on short-term loans.
After all, in the case of futurdata, it is possible to rent a smartphone for 1 month, a week, or if you want, a only day. Have an important event and want to look good? You can now rent a top-of-the-range smartphone, to make everyone present jealous.
Of course, it should be noted that we do not know the status of these devices, nor how exactly this type of rental works. We are not even advertising these stores, we are just pointing out some of the examples that have already adopted this business model. Having said all this, it seems that the rental price depends on the time, the device and its condition.
First of all, was it something you would like to take advantage of in the near future? Or does it not make sense? Share your opinion with us in the comments box below.
