It remains to find out what it is all about.
Apparently, the studio Insomniac Games has developed an advanced dialogue system for their new projects. The existence of such a system was briefly reported by Elan Raskin, lead programmer of the Insomniac engine.
During a Twitch stream, Raskin noted that the studio had created “very cool” dialogue-related technology. She will appear in the following Insomniac games; probably referring to Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.
Unfortunately, Ruskin did not describe this system in detail. We don’t even know what we are talking about: it can be either a system that allows the player to somehow participate in the dialogue, or a technology responsible for creating character dialogues as such.
It is worth noting that in the latest Insomniac games there was almost no dialogue that allowed the player to make any decisions. Maybe the studio decided to change that.
Spider-Man 2 is due out in the fall of 2023, most likely the game will be shown at Sony’s next major presentation. If the developers have greatly reworked the dialogue system, then it is likely that they will talk about it at the presentation.
