Capcom has done it again. It’s fair to say that the developer’s series of remakes of classic Resident Evil games has led to success, with Resident Evil 4 living up to high expectations, becoming the second highest rated game of the year.
Resident Evil 4 currently has a sky-high score of 93. A number of reviews have given the game a perfect score of 10, while most of them fall between 9.5 and 8.
In its current form, Resident Evil 4 is the highest rated game in the remake series, ahead of the very impressive results of Resident Evil 2 (91 points) and Resident Evil 3 (79 points). The game currently only ranks second behind Metroid Prime: Remastered, which scored 94 and is currently tied for first place with The Witcher: 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition.
Looking at the top 10 games of the year, most of them are actually remasters or remakes of favorite games. The Switch port of Persona 4: Golden sits comfortably in seventh place with a score of 90, while Motive Studio’s acclaimed survival horror remake Dead Space is not far behind with a score of 89. Metacritic’s top 10 games of the year include Hi-Fi rhythm game Rush by Tango Gameworks. In fact, the only new intellectual property to hit the top ten of the year on Metacritic is Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush.
