More than four months after Square Enix unveiled the artistic metaverse with NFT heroes, Symbiogenesis, the well-known publisher has returned to the fray on the project dedicated to Web 3.0 with a new teaser trailer for the upcoming game. We know that Symbiogenesis is an experience based on web technologies, but what exactly is it?
To reveal further details on the upcoming production is Square Enix itself which, through a specially designed site, explained to the whole world what users will be able to experience in the near future. “Humanity managed to survive living on the floating continent, the last safe earthly paradise where living is still possible despite the pollution. There being no more conflicts, people live while progressively recovering the now lost civilization of the past”.
“However”, the Square Enix website always reports, “their peaceful lives were shaken by the sudden attack of the Drago, who endangered existence itself of the continent floating. As humanity struggles to repel his onslaught, they are faced with choices that will determine their fate. By unraveling the mystery behind the origins of this world, they will make the decisions necessary to lead it towards an ideal future.”
This is the information relating to the narrative component that will be set up with Symbiogenesis. However, the information does not end here: always from the same front it is in fact possible to deduce more details on the project, as in the case of the presence of 10,000 NFT characters with a unique design and story.
The game is defined by Square Enix as a “narrative entertainment“ based on unblocking NFTs. It will focus on some exploration mechanics of the game world, aimed at discovering the secrets that dominate the floating continent and beyond. We also know that the narrative structure of Symbiogenesis will be characterized by a subdivision into chapters: this is not a marginal element in view of the entire production, as the level of difficulty will be uniquely calibrated to ensure a story-driven experience accessible to all.
Furthermore, the entire play system has been designed to favor the NFT-based system, although it is possible play and complete the six chapters of the story without owning NFTs. It is a project with a really interesting concept for lovers of the peculiarities of Web 3.0, especially in the face of the attempt – in parallel – to offer a courageous action-based show on PS5 with Final Fantasy 16 and videogame productions more in line with the styles of the reference medium.
