The established practice of operating electric vehicles has proven that traction batteries do not like cold, regardless of their chemical composition, and it is better to leave the car for the night in a warm garage connected to a charger. The updated Tesla app allows car owners to see how much of the battery capacity is temporarily lost due to the cold. This improves the convenience of using an electric vehicle in countries with a cold climate.

In the list of updates to the Tesla App version 4.19, an indication of the lost part of the charge due to low temperature has been added, it is displayed directly on the slider with the total remaining capacity of the traction battery. The part of the capacity that is temporarily unavailable due to low battery temperature is displayed as a blue line. As soon as the battery warms up – from the charger or in motion at the expense of its own resources, part of the lost capacity is restored, and this is reflected in the proprietary application.
Secondly, the notches corresponding to every 10% of the battery charge are now always visible, whereas previously they appeared on the display only when moving the slider that determines the amount of charge limit. This makes it easier to navigate visually when assigning the appropriate parameter, in addition to the numerical display.
Another change was the introduction of a section in the Tesla application to manage membership in the user group of branded charging stations for owners of electric vehicles of other brands that have access to these stations. Through the application, you can reduce the cost of charging, but you can use the Tesla charging station no more than five times per day.
Finally, after updating the Tesla application, owners of solar panels on the roofs of their houses were able to more flexibly control the sources of electricity to recharge the traction battery of electric vehicles of this brand. The condition can be set in such a way that during a long stop the car will be recharged only with electricity generated in excess by solar panels, when all stationary consumers are already fully provided with it. However, such a function at the first stages will not be available in all geographical markets where Tesla is present.
