The hotly anticipated sci-fi action role-playing shooter Starfield has been given an R18+ rating by the Australian regulator due to the abundance of violence and drugs in the game. This is the first country that has indicated the age limit of the project at the moment.

Microsoft and Bethesda Game Studios are gearing up for a detailed reveal of Starfield gameplay in June at Starfield Direct. The show was announced earlier this month, along with a release date for the role-playing shooter itself.
Although the release of the game on September 6 is still a long way off, the Australian Classification Board has already been able to evaluate Starfield. The regulator has rated the project R18+ Restricted (“Adults Only”). The entry notes that the reason for this was the possibility of using hard drugs and violence in the game. There are also references to foul language and adult themes, as well as some nudity.
Note that Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have been designated by the Australian Classification Board as MA15+ (“For people over 15 years old”).
Starfield launches September 6th on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game will be immediately available in Game Pass. The upcoming Starfield Direct is scheduled for June 11th.
