James Cameron has a different point of view.
Filming for Avatar 3 is not over yet, actress Zoe Saldana, who plays Neytiri, told Entertainment Tonight. This is unusual: director James Cameron mentioned that he had already finished filming and moved on to post-production.
According to the actress, work on the film will resume in the summer of 2023. Apparently, we are talking about the completion of filming, and not about additional filming.

James Cameron himself at the end of 2020 said that the shooting of Avatar 3 was almost completed. However, in September 2022, the director talked about continuing filming.
In the third part of Avatar, Cameron plans to use Lo’ak, one of Jake Sully’s children, as the narrator and introduce viewers to two Na’vi tribes at once. One of the new tribes will not be very friendly.
Avatar 3 is slated to release in December 2024.
